Vice Chairman of the Board of Ekranas AB A.Giz became the President of the European Display Industry Association
On September 6, Vice Chairman of the Board of Ekranas AB and representative of the majority of stockholders Mr. Aydin Giz has been elected to be the next President of the European Display Industry Association (EDIA). Members of the Association present in the elections of the EDIA President unanimously agreed to the candidacy of Mr.A.Giz.
This is the first time in EDIA history when the president elected does not represent LG.Philips or Thomson. It shows the trust of the representatives of electronics industry in the new members of EDIA. Ekranas AB has been the member of EDIA for three years. Before that, Didier Trutt, Senior Executive Vice President of Thomson, was holding the position of the EDIA President.
Ekranas AB is an active proponent of fair competition. It is expected that Mr.A.Giz becoming the President of EDIA will have a positive impact of Ekranas AB efforts in fighting the unfair competition from Southeastern Asia.
EDIA is an independent association, a member of an umbrella-type European Electronic Components Manufacturers Association (EECA). The mission of the EECA and EDIA is to defend the interests of the electronic components industry and strengthen the competitiveness of the Association members in the global marketplace.
One of strategic objectives of EECA and EDIA is to influence the European Commission in order to protect the European market from unfair competition.
Currently the European Display Industry Association joins 20 members, among which there are such famous companies as Sony, Samsung, Thomson, AB „Ekranas“, Vidox, LG Philips, etc.
