Festival “WE ARE COMING!” lasted 3 days
A festival of juvenility and creativity – international festival of youth arts “We are coming! ” took place in Panevėžys on June 3-5 for the fourth year in succession.
The audience was delighted by the appearances of a record-breaking number of participants – more than 3000 youths headed by 50 art directors.
All festival visitors saw the culmination of youth self-realization performance in different art collectives and circles. Young artists from Panevėžys schools presented their appearances: poets, musicians, painters, singers, theatrical, photographers, and creators of alternative fashion.
Visitors from foreign towns – Panevėžys town partners Gabrov, Daugpils, Rakvere and Holding also demonstrated their creative potential. Delegation from Lunen was in charge by the mayor of the Lunen city.
The festival reached its peak on Saturday afternoon. In the very heart of Panevėžys town – in the Freedom Square – all visitors listened to the concert „Colours of the world“. At the memorial to the grand Duke Aleksandras, a local Ostapas Benderis gave a simultaneous chess display to young people.
After the concert, the town center became a tricky labyrinth of arts, where everybody could see 26 different scenes.
The culmination of the festival was a grand concert. 200 youths performed the hymn of Panevėžys youth. All spectators were amused by popular performers before dark: „Inculto“, „Biplan“, „Mokinukės“, Linas and Simona. The concert was hosted by a snappy showman Algis Ramanauskas – Greitai and his gorgeous helper Skaiva Jasevičiūtė. After the concert, the sky was illuminated by festive fireworks.
On Sunday, the festival ended up with a trip on a narrow railway line. Panevėžys youth fought against a legendary character Tadas Blinda, who always used to attack travellers on a short distance train, they danced, sang songs and swore to meet next year.
This festival is sponsored by the support and charity fund of Mr. A.Giz and Mr. E.Žvybas, it is also patronized by a number of businessmen from Panevėžys region. One of the festival sponsors E.Žvybas, when asked what the purpose of charity related activity was, said: „We, businessmen, do care about the future of our town and its residents. When we invest in our young generation and its occupation, we shape their world outlook and develop their competence. The future of any business will depend upon our young generation, which, sooner or later, is going to start work in our enterprises. We also pursue the goal to create the atmosphe that will stimulate young people to reside and to study in Panevėžys.“
